what is BCCode?

BCCodes is the shortened version of ‘Bug Check Codes’ which is the term that the engineers at Microsoft came up with describe a situation where your machine had just suffered a critical error, and is about to shut down because of it.

A BCCode on your computer is shorthand for a “Bug Check Code” that is used to describe a critical error that your Windows operating system has experienced which is causing a system shut down. Normally, when you see a BCCode error, you will see the infamous, Windows “Blue Screen of Death” that will list the specific error your computer encountered. You will want to annotate the error displayed as well as what programs or activity you were undertaking at the time of the error in order to troubleshoot the underlying problem with your computer.

What Causes a BCCode Error?
The best thing about a BCCode error is that you know that you have had a significant problem on your computer. Sometimes, on older builds of Windows a BCCode can result in a rebooting cycle of your computer making it difficult to troubleshoot the problem.

One of the major reasons you can see BCCode error is due to program conflicts on your computer such as from competing firewalls, antispyware programs, and gaming software. One of the simplest ways to troubleshoot a BCCode error is if it occurred after you installed a new software program or were using a website that uses significant client-side programming. If you were, then this could have caused the conflict on your computer to result in the crash. Other causes of BCCode errors come from games or multimedia programs or files that have caused conflicts on your computer. Other times, a BCCode error can result from a major computer hardware component pending failure such as the PC motherboard.

Typically, if you think the error resulted from a new software program or game, you should try disabling or removing the program to remove the fatal conflict occurring on your computer.

Fixing the BCCode Error
Fixing a BCCode error can be as simple as removing the last software program that you installed on your computer. If your computer just won’t start properly for you to remove the software, you can try starting the computer in Windows safe mode by depressing the “F8” keyboard function key during the rebooting process. If this fails, then you can depress the “F12” keyboard function key during the computer reboot in order to get access to the boot menu and try to start your computer from a recovery disk that you have previously created. After you get the computer restarted, if you did not install any new software, you will want to run an antivirus check of the computer to try to find out if the cause of problem may have been created by spyware or computer malware. If you don’t have success with these basic steps to fix the problem, you will want to research the specific BCCode error you are receiving in order to better identify the problem on your computer to fix.
